We went to Whitewater State Park in southeastern Minnesota over the Easter weekend. Although the forecast called for more seasonal weather compared to what we’ve been having, with highs in the low 50s and overnight temps below freezing, we decided to go for it. One of the reasons we bought the trailer was to enjoy outings during the shoulder seasons when the temps, and weather in general, can be unpredictable.
We had a great time. Our son, Aaron, drove down on Sunday afternoon and stayed overnight (we came back on Monday). We went for some nice walks, cooked over the campfire, and just relaxed.
Several types of wildflowers are in bloom, and a hike near the group camp took us through large expanses of false rue anemone — check out the slideshow below. We also saw pasqueflowers and Dutchmen’s breeches.
